On Monday at 4 p.m. the Napa High softball team will host Bear Creek-Stockton in a first round contest.

The Indians’ clinched theeir second-place finish in the Monticello Empire League with their Big Game victory on Tuesday night.

The eight-seed Indians’ (17-8 overall, 9-8 MEL) are in the CIF Sac-Joaquin section division II softball bracket. The heavies in the bracket include top-seeded Del Campo of Fair Oaks who Napa beat in back-to-back days to win the title. Number two seed Elk Grove is also one of the teams that Napa beat last season in the playoffs.

The top teams in the bracket include three-seed Roseville, four-seed Bella Vista another team Napa beat last year in their championship run, fifth-seeded Atwater, and sixth-seeded St. Mary’s of Stockton.

Bear Creek went 19-4 overall on the season and won the San Joaquin Athletic Association title with a record of 14-1.

Both Napa and Vintage qualified for the playoffs. They were both placed into the CIF Sac-Joaquin division II bracket.

The Timberwolves went 16-10 on the season and finished second in the Sierra Foothill League with a 11-7 mark.

This isn’t the first time Napa and Woodcreek have met in the playoffs. Two years ago in 2016 the two teams played at Woodcreek in a game that saw the Timberwolves win 10-3.

As for Vintage (12-13, 7-8 MEL) they earned the 16 seed after winning the final Big Game on Wednesday.

There is a long shot, but possible way for the teams to play one more time — in the section title game.

Besides Del Campo and Woodcreek other top teams include Lincoln-Sacramento, Granite Bay, and Piman of Turlock.

Also in the bracket is Benicia, who Napa beat 3-1 in the second game of the season on February 24th.
